Homeopathic provings are the foundation of homeopathy. A proving is when a homeopathically prepared substance is administered to healthy individuals (provers) so that they may record their state of health disturbance that the substance induces. It is a blind experiment which means that the provers are not told what the substance is. They are also not in communication with one another, and they record only on their personal experience. They are asked to record on both general and specific properties. The records of the provers’ reactions vary between each person. Once all the responses are collected together it reveals the pattern unique to the substance given. In working with a wide variety of provers with as many differences as possible, a larger representation of the substance is gathered, enabling the fullest understanding of the general and specific properties of the proven substance.
